A fantastic day out for the kids - you can feed and pat our friendly resident goats, miniature horses, alpacas, llamas, sheep, goats and more. An old tractor is always popular with children to play on.
A great chance to get those picture-perfect photos for the family album! Set on a gorgeous Glenorchy family farm, you’ll be surrounded by spectacular views - from the farm, you can see as far as Lake Wakatipu and the Rees and Dart Valleys, the Humbolt mountain range and the wetlands!
Glenorchy Animal Experience offers covered seating on their verandah where you are welcome to enjoy a picnic before or after your visit.
There are also plenty of farm-related artefacts and curios to look and there’s a small shop to purchase a souvenir from your visit!
A fun and relaxing day out for all ages - come and experience the magic of New Zealand farm life!
Please note: parts of the farm are pram friendly. However; the open paddock is not suitable for prams. There you can carry your little one or hold their hand as they walk with you.

Thank you for your visit and your positive review ?
Nice and clean and a very good accommodation highly recommended....
5stars appreciated 🙂, but this review may have been meant for somewhere that actually offers accommodation?
The farm location is beautiful and the animals are well cared for .. but I am not sure the owners like children at all. We understood all the rules when we walked in, yet could constantly hear yells from the owners if a poor kid got slightly excited. The owners would literally appear from nowhere to abruptly inform you if you were doing something wrong (like holding the food bag incorrectly). We understand you need to keep animals and kids safe, but the regimental environment knocks all the fun out of it
Wrong end of the stick? Disheartening. I've looked up the day that your booking was for three weeks ago... it was busy but not unusual. I had made a note in the diary that it was the day we found one of the flower arrangements and whole toilet rolls down the composting toilet, also the day my yellow tulips and daffodils that finally flowered were all broken off. Not so cool, isn't it? However; most people who visit our farm are super respectful and friendly and a delight to host 💕. As for children: it's the adult in charge or sometimes the adult not in charge who give us the occasional headache. Well supervised children are a delight no matter where you go in this world 😁👍. As for regimental: I'd 100x rather to be known for that than for a headline "Toddler knocked over by 100kg ewe".
Mom of 4 here, 3kids under 5!!! We've been to a Lot of Animal Encounters in Auckland and Glenorchy Animal Experience is the WORST ever!!!! All the staffs are very RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL and was SHOUTING AT US during my kids encounter to the animals!!! The place smells yuck! And did I say, the staffs are soooo RUDE to us. We arrived there at noon! We were trying to find out where is the entrance because literally no one is inside at that time, when we saw the staff, I kindly Asked, "is this the right place for the glenorchy animal experience?(while showing her my book me family pass)" then the f*cking staff laughed at me and said, what do you think? Can you read this?her tone wasn't really nice! And I got really uncomfortable talking to her and I asked if I can still refund my money bec. Im not happy anymore aside from her, the smell was so bad that my children was complaining to me that they dont wanna go anymore. And she laughed again and said, No! No! No! You paid really really cheap! That's a cheapy!!!!! Then my husband said, if we can't refund lets just try and the kids might enjoy inside, then the staffs were shouting at my kids, because the alpacas were trying to run to us and my kids were running away. One of the staffs asked us if we can speak english. We said yes and asked us if we can read the rules and regulations that was posted there. Then my husband started to get angry and told them to kindly speak nicely to us because we are customers and our kids are freaking out already why they are shouting at us. I did not even get a chance to take a photo because I was freaking out. We just left and was wondering how on earth this people lives here in NZ, all the people most of the time really are nice and accomodating. Weve been living im auckland for 15 years now and its our first time encoutering people like this. Praying that they won't do that again to other families. Being KIND is free. We felt we were SCAMMED. Not just our money was taken but also we were treated so bad. And really, I hate it when other people shouting at my kids.
Thank you for the review. You forgot to mention that the owner gave you a verbal trespass notice upon your group leaving, as you refused to comply with the safety rules to keep your family safe. You lied repeatedly to staff about an adult of 20yrs you tried to pass as a child, and our usually calm paddock staff was exasperated and complained to me after you left. I rest my case. We may not be your type of entertainment, but sadly you were terrible ambassadors for your people.
